Description:

Benson is an active, energetic boy who is up for pretty much any adventure.  He LOVES being with people and is super affectionate.  His foster mom has discovered that he enjoys riding bike with her.  She straps him on in a front facing doggy carrier (think baby carrier from "The Hangover") and away they go.  Benson is relaxed and chill as can be; his ears flapping in the breeze.  He wants nothing more than to be near his person.  So much so that he will even hop on a floaty in the pool with his foster mom.  Benson has conquered the 7+ mile Chinquapin trail at Huntsville State Park.  That's a big accomplishment for those short little legs.  If you're looking for a constant companion and/or travel buddy, Benson is your guy.  He doesn't stray far from his person.  He's a good leash walker, going a little bit ahead, then stopping, looking back and waiting for his person to catch up.  At the dog park he's not interested in the other dogs too much but he does stick close to his foster mom while walking off leash.  Benson gets along fine with the other dogs in his foster home but he truly prefers the companionship of humans over dogs.

Benson is crate trained but there's no doubt he would happily sleep with his human(s) if allowed.  He is a great snuggle buddy on the couch while watching tv/movies.  Benson is doing well with house training but you've got to go outside with him and make sure he does what he needs to do before coming back inside the house.  When Benson goes outside he gets easily distracted by neighbor dogs that need to be barked into submission, a fence perimeter that needs to be patrolled, smells that need to be sniffed, etc.  Benson has met one house cat larger than himself and he paid absolutely no mind to the cat.  He didn't even go over and sniff the cat.  The size of the cat might have had something to do with Benson's lack of interest but it seems that he could coexist with cats.  In his free time, Benson enjoys de-stuffing plush toys and chewing on nylabones, rubber toys, pig ears, etc.  This fun, sweet boy will be incredibly devoted to the person or family lucky enough to adopt him.  If you're looking for an adorable, young, sweet boy like Benson, don't delay, submit your application now.
