Sweet Lady came to ATDR from a shelter where she was surrendered after one of her beloved people passed away and the other was unable to care for her having been moved to a facility. This precious senior baby has been very lost without them…extremely sad and unsure of what’s going on. She just wants to be in a comfortable lap 24/7. Her foster mom reports that in the beginning if Lady couldn’t find her, she would cry and have separation anxiety, howling and pacing the floor before settling down again. She’s a really good little girl still searching to find a soft spot in this new world of hers, but is feeling more comfortable every day.
She’s a sweet girl and gets along great with the other pups in her foster home, even the big dog! She potties outside every time she’s taken out, and learning the doggy door has alleviated the occasional accident she’d had a few times when left alone too long. Lady must not be crated because she frantically tries to “bust out,” evidence of which is she came into rescue with scratches on her nose from being crated at the shelter. She sleeps like an angel on the big bed! It is thought that her previous owner may have used a wheelchair since she always sits calmly waiting to be picked up.
Lady needs a stay-at-home person who will love and reassure her, making her feel secure and happy…someone seeking a low-energy doggy to enjoy sharing life with. If given a chance she will certainly bloom in her new home. She wouldn’t be suitable for apartment or condo living since she does occasionally howl, although she’s not a barker. If you’re looking for a sweet baby to warm your heart and lap, please submit an adoption application for Lady. With love and attention, she will be the best little friend and companion you could ever hope to find.
