Say hello to Baby Doll! This beautiful Chiweenie girl lost her beloved elderly mom when she passed away. Grown children passed her around trying to find a home where she would be happy, but this didn't work out for Baby Doll. The last home had big dogs and being leary of them, she would react by being aggressive toward them. Thankfully, she was never hurt by one of them, but knowing this was a bad environment for Baby Doll and an accident waiting to happen, she was surrendered to ATDR in hopes of finding her a loving forever home where she would be happy and safe.
Baby Doll is now being well loved and cared for in a comfortable foster home where it is reported that she's a very shy girl who is gradually adjusting to her new surroundngs. She's doing fine with the other foster dachshunds and one Chi in the house, all small dogs like her unlike in her last home. However, she pretty much keeps to herself. She's a sweet girl who loves lying on top of the recliner next to the window most of the time. She has over eaten in her prior life, coming into rescue at about 16 pounds when she should weigh around 13. She's being fed 1/4 cup of healthy weight (diet) kibbles twice daily and no other food at all in an effort to get her down to a better weight! She's a beauty and will be even moreso when she's at a desirable weight! She will definitely have a better chance at a longer and healthier life not carrying the extra weight. She will need to stay on a diet in a new forever home and should NEVER be free fed; i.e., food should not be left on floor for her to graze on at her convenience.
Baby Doll was probably an only dog when her elderly mom was alive. She's been moved from home to home with grown children trying to keep her in the family. She would probably adjust well to another quiet home with a retired person or couple or someone who works from home and is there with her a lot. A busy home with children would be difficult for her. With patience and kindness, she will adjust and learn to love again and she'll be oh so worth it! If you're looking for a best friend and companion to share a quiet comfortable life with, please submit an adoption application for Baby Doll. She's ready and waiting to have someone of her own so she can feel secure again.
