Huny is a petite red/white piebald female mini about seven years old. She is as sweet as she is pretty! Like a lot of dachshund gals she is a little bossy and enjoys being the self-proclaimed Queen of her new foster pack.
Huny was found by a wonderful family in a suburb where they found her hot and exhausted wandering through the yards as if trying to find her way home. Unsure of why a beautiful girl would wind up on the streets they took her in and posted for her lost family. When no one came, ATDR was the next call. After vetting we determined that while she was in decent condition she was high heartworm positive, so not well cared for at all. Huny has started the antibiotic for her heartworm treatment and was recently spayed and has had a small hernia repair. She had a seizure as a reaction to her heartworm prevention medication; so we have opted to do slow kill treatment over time. She is currently on a twice daily dose of Kepra, a reliable seizure medication, compounded in a treat form that she loves.
Stay tuned as we learn more about this little girl and report back on her journey to better health.
