Description:
Picked up as a stray in the Dallas area, Vincent spent time in two shelters before we heard about him. The picture of him lying in his cage was all we needed to see and we made arrangements to get him out of there ASAP. The first order of business was a bath, a good meal and an appointment at the vet. We learned he had worms, but luckily no heartworms. The vet also diagnosed Vincent with Demodectic mange and started him on a dipping regimen that will take a few weeks to complete. The great news is that all of Vincent’s issues are treatable and he will be a healthy little dog in no time. We estimate his age at about 3 yrs old and he currently weighs 12 lbs, although he needs to gain a few lbs to get him to his target weight of about 15 lbs. When he completes the mange treatment he will be neutered.

His foster parents named him Vincent because of his invincible survival on his own. Vince must have saved up all of his lovin when he had no one to give it to and now is plentifully sharing it with his foster family. When you pick him up the first thing Vince does is lay his head on your shoulder. We think it’s his way of saying thank you. As you can imagine, his foster family adores him and says he is the sweetest, good natured little guy who has settled right in to the routine of their home. He gets along fine with the other dachshunds there and is just a joy to have around. Check back for updates on Vince’s progress.
