Description: Hi! I’m Linus and I want to tell you all about myself. You see, I’d like to find my forever home so if you’re looking for that special someone, I could be just the right guy for you. I gotta’ tell you, I’m not quite sure how I ended up in dachshund rescue. I look pretty tall compared to my foster brothers and sisters but I think I’m just right the way I am. My foster dad calls me his “gentle giant” and his “big ol’ love bug” and I do love to snuggle up on his lap! I have been on R & R for quite some time because I got heartworms. It hasn’t been any fun at all. I’ve been wanting to play and run in the backyard so bad but dad hasn’t let me do anything more than walk around or rest in the sun or shade. Oh, and I DO LOVE that. I really really really want a backyard for my legs. Whenever my people are home I spend a lot of time out there soaking up the sun and then cooling off in the shade. Another thing about me, I really do need a dog friend. You see, I am a bit shy. My size probably would fool you, but I guess I really am a “gentle giant” like they say. I like to follow the lead of the other dogs around the house and I would feel lost without company. Which leads me to this STUPENDOUS news: I started to PLAY! Dad gave me the green light the other day and all of a sudden my foster brothers and I were cuttin’ up the place! I never felt so good! So I am done with my heartworm treatment, current on everything and am ready for my forever home now. I really am a quiet type of guy. I would love a nice quite home with a yard and a dog friend to play with. I am potty trained and will crate during the day if you really want me to. (They make me do it here when they go to work.) I like to cuddle up next to my humans at night for a couple of minutes to say “goodnight.” Then I curl up on my own bed to rest and dream of good food, squirrels, my pal Shaggy, my favorite backyard spot, and my very own forever home! So let me know what you think! Linus (A note from Linus’ foster dad: Linus is an extremely sweet boy. When ATDR intake looked at his picture we didn’t see his legs and his face looked like a dachshund! When our volunteer went to pull him she couldn’t turn down such a sweet baby no matter how long the legs! Let me repeat, Linus, is one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever dealt with. He just has a tender soul about him. He is a bit shy at first but he is very loving and wants to sit on your lap and be with his people. He adores being outside in the sun, shade, etc. He really does need a fenced backyard or he would not be happy. Due to his shyness, a dog friend really is necessary too. A quiet home would be great for him. He is one of six in our home and it is too much activity for him. ATDR was his last chance so I am sure it was meant to be that his perfect forever home is just waiting for him! He is just a sweet, special dog.)
