Blackie's companion, Rockie (adopted) can also be seen on our website.
Description: Meet Blackie. You don’t meet many dachshunds like him; his coat is solid black. He is sleek and slim and his hair is satin soft. Blackie loves to play with his brother, Rockie and all his foster brothers and sisters. He also does great with children of all ages. Blackie is very sweet and loves to play and chew on rawhides. He does like to be the alpha dog, but he has quickly learned his place in the pack at his foster home. Blackie never meets a stranger, he loves everyone! He loves to go for walks, rides in the car, and even does great at bath time and having his ears cleaned. Blackie loves to go outside and “hunt”, he is housebroken and crate trained and he loves to sleep next to you under the cover or snuggle on the couch for some TV time. An important thing to know about Blackie is he must have Benadryl before he gets his shots and for 24 hours after because he had an allergic reaction when he was young. Also, Blackie does better with having his nails clipped at the vet instead of at home.
So how did a dog this great end up in rescue? Blackie is a great dog and is in rescue to no fault of his own. His family he had been with all his life had some major life changes and thought it best that ATDR find a deserving loving home for Blackie and his brother Rockie. These boys do not have to be adopted together, but if you are looking for a pair we have the perfect set ready to go to their new forever home.
