Lefty is about 2 yrs old, weighs 14 lbs and is a gorgeous black and tan dapple boy. Lefty was taken to a shelter after his owners threw him from a car in Cedar Park, near Austin. Fortunately his only physical injuries are road rash. He is very timid and not too sure about trusting his foster parents at the moment. We are working with him to earn his trust and help him feel more comfortable & at ease in his surroundings. So far Lefty has had no issues with the other dachshunds in his foster home or with the cats. Once he's had some time to relax and understand not all people are out to hurt him, he'll be ready for adoption.
Update: June 24, 2008 - Lefty's foster mom reports that he is coming out of his shell, has warmed up to the people in his foster home and even wags his tail now! He's started playing with his foster brothers & sisters, and has also learned the joys of sleeping in the big bed. He needed a little time to unwind and adjust, and now he's ready to go to his forever home.
