With a tattered collar too tight for even his thin neck, Nigel managed to escape a life tied up outside, uncared for, unfed and unloved....but found himself dumped in a Kill Shelter in a big city. Malnourished, emaciated, frail and with sores on his feet, itchy bald skin, and starved for affection.....this little guy still just loves people and has the most forgiving soul. Thanks to a caring shelter volunteer, Nigel made his way to Rescue. With plenty of TLC, nutritional food, vitamin supplements and frequent medicated baths he has started his long road to recovery. With his strength and spirit refreshed he just loves being petted, playing with doggie friends, and fetching toys (probably for the first time in his life). Nigel sleeps nicely in his crate, is working on his potty training and is getting the hang of doggie doors. He has had all his shots and is close to being ready for a new home. Update: June 17, 2008 - Nigel has been soaking up the comforts of his loving foster home & has gotten quite fond of regular, nutritious meals, a soft bed, air conditioning, cool baths, tasty treats, foster friends to play with, and a nice lap to snuggle in! He's filling out nicely and his coat has shown much improvement. Most importantly, he's feeling so much better and is blossoming into a happy little boy. He's now neutered and will soon be ready for a home.

Update: July 10, 2008 - What a handsome boy Nigel has turned into. Smooth and sleek, his fur has returned and it is a beautiful deep red color!! He is a busy, energetic boy and just loves tumbling around on the floor with his foster brother. He also loves to follow his foster mom around and give kisses. Nigel is so grateful to everyone who has been following his progress and wants everyone to know he is now the picture of health and finally ready for a new home.
