Belle is the sweetest girl you would ever want to meet. OK... so she may not look exactly dachshund... but it was reported when she was surrendered that she was 1/2 dachshund... the other half is unknown. Belle's story is a little sad. She and her litter mate were taken to animal control to be put to sleep stating that they were both sick. Belle's litter mate didn't make it through the weekend but she was more than ready to get out of that place when her foster mom picked her up. Belle was taken straight to the vet with one main problem - after x-rays it was found that it appears as though she was born without a hip socket on one of her back legs. This does not slow her down. The only thing she can't do is jump. She runs, plays, wrestles with her foster brothers and sisters, uses the dog door - all the things any normal dog does; all with barely a limp.

Belle loves to be held, snuggled and to sleep/nap anywhere her person is. She is a beautiful happy puppy of about 5 to 6 months old. One of her favorite games is playing tug-o-war with her foster mom's pant leg. Belle is full of personality and loves to talk about stuff - or backtalk if she is getting in trouble. Belle sleeps in a crate just fine as long as she is crated with someone else. She has a big fear of being all alone. She doesn't get destructive when left alone... but she will cry and bark the entire time. Belle will need a home where she has a brother or sister that will keep her company when she can't be with her new owners.

Belle is UTD on her shots but is not yet scheduled to be spayed. A surgeon will be reviewing her x-rays to see if there is anything that can be done to make her leg "normal" and if she has that surgery she will be spayed at the same time.
