Our ATDR family lost a special member today, beloved foster Donnakay Church of Beaumont. Donnakay fostered a number of special needs seniors and gave them an amazing forever foster home. The love that she gave to her dogs was a gift that she shared with many and she will remain forever in our hearts! Donnakay requested that donations in her memory go to All Texas Dachshund Rescue and we are profoundly grateful. Godspeed Donnakay, you will be reunited with your son and many dachshunds in heaven.

"How can you resist this face? The answer is that you can't. Or at least we couldn't. Slugger came to us from ATDR last year, several months after we unexpectedly lost our first doxie, Cooper.
While we were a little nervous about rescuing a "senior" pup, once we saw him, it was all over and he came home with us the same day. He may have been 10 but he acted like a puppy and he was fearless! He ran and played with the other pups and thought he was bigger than our 70 lb rescue Caleb. Watching the two of them playing was quite a thing to see! But 5 seconds later, he would be curled up with me or my husband, giving the sweetest, softest puppy kisses ever!
Sadly, our time with "The Slugster" was too short. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor on March 13 and 10 days later our sweet boy passed away in my arms while I rocked him in my chair which was his favorite spot. We had prayed for as much time with him as possible but once again, our hearts were shattered.
I know when he crossed that Rainbow Bridge, Cooper was waiting for him and they are playing and barking (at nothing) and having a wonderful time and that gives us some comfort. We may have had him less than a year, but we loved him like he had been with us his whole life and will miss him the rest of ours."
Thanks again.
Jill

Our Special Little Guy Ben Passed Away On Friday October 11, 2019 After Suffering What We Believe Was A Heart Attack. He Had A Big Bright Personality Wanting To Get His Way All The Time. Although He Had To Experience The Deaths Of Family Members He Was Close To Over The Course Of His Life, That Personality Stayed With Him. He Loved Playing With His Dog Friend Walker On A Daily Basis, Going On Car Rides And Taking Walks Trying To Finish Them Even If He Was Tired.
Ben Was Very Smart Too, Even Going So Far As To Get His Own Leash Out Once To Go In The Car, Climbing On Tables, Watching TV At Times And Even Watching Trains. If You Left Ben At Home Alone, You Could Expect Him To Bark His Head Off When You Returned Home Which Would Include Him Being On All 4 Legs, With His Front Legs Lifting Off The Ground As He Barked. He Had A Routine To His Day And Loved His Routine, Which Included Sleeping In Bed With His Owner.
Ben's Death Touched Us All And We're All Very Sad He Is No Longer With Us, But We Know That He Is In Heaven In God's Presence Thanking God For Being Placed Into Our Family And We Know That We'll See Him Again One Day.
