Hi there, and thanks for stopping by. My name is Bessie. I am a 7-year-old standard dachshund. I lived with one family since I was an itty bitty puppy, and life was good until the new husband came along and moved my family to a place that doesn't allow sweet babies like me. Fortunately, a nice family member found me a good place to be with ATDR and I am looking forward to the second part of my life. 

I am very sweet. I get along with other dogs, but my preference is to be with my person/people. I curl up in a cute little circle nearby and wait patiently for attention. When separated by a door, I will talk to you so you know you are not alone. My foster mom (F-mom) loves to hear me talk. She says I have a low, Eartha Kitt voice and my F-Mom says it is very soothing. I don't jabber on and on forever, just a few minutes.

I am a good sleeping partner. I just curl up and sleep until you are ready for me to awaken. 

I have a playful side, but I am never hyper or annoying. I do like to chew on a kong or chase squirrels. SQUIRREL...did someone say SQUIRREL?
