Description:

Freddie is a wonderful boy that has made unbelievable strides since coming into foster care.  Freddie’s dad passed away and he found himself with family members that couldn’t keep him and he was in danger of being put down.  This was only one of his problems.  Scared and out-of-sorts, he wasn’t very happy with people.  But poor Freddie had some extremely neglected health issues.  He was overweight – and not just by a little.  Freddie was slowly being fed to death through way too many snacks.  He lost a bunch of weight while staying with those family members, but there was (and is) still a long way to go.  His skin and eyes were badly infected and Freddie was overall pretty miserable and crabby.

After his foster dad saw him for the first time, Freddie went immediately to the vet.  He had to stay for two weeks before he could even come home.  On medication for his eyes, a cough, and his skin, he didn’t seem very people friendly.  But the wonderful staff at Dallas Dental and Surgical kept working with him and soon he was everybody’s best friend.  He started feeling better and that made all the difference!

Freddie has now been in foster care for about three weeks since getting sprung from the vet.  He is still losing weight but he’s starting to get hips!  His eyes have greatly improved and he will be off medication soon.  With antibiotics and  good nutrition, his coat improved almost immediately.

The best part – Freddie is about the happiest and friendliest boy in the world.  His tail NEVER stops and goes a million miles an hour.  Since he’s lost some weight and is feeling so good, he putters around outside and has even been seen as a passing blur as he has started playing chase with the other dogs.  He is happy and friendly and does enjoy the company of another dog – even a big one.

Freddie is current on vaccinations, came to us heartworm negative, and could be taken off his eye drops soon.  He has been the sweetest boy when having his eyes treated.

Freddie will be a fairly good-sized standard even after some more weight loss.  He has a big barrel chest and is almost all black.  He is a silly, fun dog and he just makes you smile and laugh all the time.  He goes into his crate when called in the mornings and is potty trained.  What a turn-around for precious little Freddie.  He will make a wonderful friendly family pet.
